The history

Gonzagarredi's warehouseThe production of Montessori Material in Gonzaga dates back to Maria Montessori’s presence in Palidano, a small village near Gonzaga, where the Marchioness Maria Maraini Guerrieri Gonzaga opened “Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga Children’s House to give hospitality to the poorest children.

In 1911 Maria Montessori asked Donna Maraini if in Gonzaga there were qualified artisans who were able to manufacture the prototypes of the materials. This is why they commissioned “Ernesto Bassoli e Figli” workshop where a young carpenter Cesare Baroni worked, that founded the company “Baroni e Marangon” in 1963.
The manufacture of the Montessori Materials grew and the company, visited by an increasing number of foreign teachers and educators started to widen. In 1975 “Baroni e Marangon” became a cooperative business enterprise under the name of “Gonzagarredi”.

It has been over a hundred years since the first Montessori materials were created, but the same principles still govern and push Gonzagarredi for the development of new products. The aim is to offer children the highest quality products consistent with the rules laid down by Maria Montessori, which will enable them to grow in complete freedom and autonomy.Workshop

Each new material is created from the ideas of a team of professionals who combine the needs of children and Montessori teachers on the one hand and Montessori principles on the other. Products that can stimulate the interest of the child by isolating a specific quality in order to focus the child’s attention on the development of a particular skill, allowing children to recognize their mistakes and correct themselves autonomously and of course providing the teacher with suitable tools to stimulate children’s learning.

All products are designed according to specific standards to ensure that the object is practical for the child. Nothing is left to chance and each detail is handled with care and attention, in order to ensure a distinctive and unparalleled level of quality. History and quality combine to create a catalogue which is a blend of reliability and excellence.
